The Glen Cove Board of Education

The members of the Board of Education, who serve without pay, represent the Glen Cove community: parents, grandparents, alumni, retirees, homeowners, and renters. Every school board member tries to respond both to the needs of the students and to the needs of the community. Every member welcomes comments from the community. Each year, on the third Tuesday in May, Glen Cove residents elect one or two members of the seven-member Board. Janet Bates-Wilkins and Kurt Schmeller  have been elected to five-year terms, Doug Brown and Richard Tortorici for four year terms, and Carol Sucharski and members elected after 2005 will serve for three years.
