Meeting of Monday 16 September 2002
Minutes
Janet Brown has finished the interview of Dr. Susan
Moor, Director of Guidance. Joanna Miller will interview the school
psychologist. Rich Tortorici will interview Diane Scricca. Each
interview will appear in the local papers and will help to inform the
community about our schools.
Our next meeting will take place on Monday, October
21 at 7:30 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Diane Scricca, the new
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum will be our speaker.
We would like to invite Carol Hoffman, legal
council to the school system, to speak about the new Federal "Leave No
Child Behind" program and its effects on the schools. We will also
invite Dr. Robert Root, Superintendent of the North Shore School
District, who referred to this legislation in his recently published
article in the local papers. There may also be a school board meeting
focusing on this legislation.
Lucille Cutler is in the process of inviting both
Carl McCall and Governor Pataki to speak about their views on education
at an upcoming special meeting. News about this event is forthcoming.
Joanna and Al Miller will be sending postcards to
contributing members without e-mail.
There are very few articles about the schools
appearing in the local papers. We need more! The interviews mentioned
above are a good start.
