Minutes of the April 15th, 2002 Meeting
A Realtor's breakfast took place at Gribbin School
on Friday, April 19, organized and hosted by member Leslie Whitely. If two school board seats are open, both Doug Brown
and Richard Tortorici will run. At this time, there is only one.
If only one seat is open, Ronnie Lavine will open the collected ballots
returned from members in order to determine the candidate the Coalition
will endorse for the May 21st election. We are waiting for a
definite decision on the part of Phil Enright, whose term ends in 2003,
but had stated plans to leave a year early due to his relocation to
another community. The board may appoint a 1 year member to serve
if Mr. Enright does leave. Anyone running for the May 21st
election must sign-up by May 1st. At this time there are no other
candidates. As soon as our candidate is announced, Chris
Swirnoff will help Don Scarl to design advertisements for the local
papers. Ads will contain a sample ballot which also
includes a referendum on Coles School. Maureen Tracey has offered to organize the
placement of signs to support our candidate. Ted Holmes will work on our prospect list. There will be a mailing with information on the
election and candidate(s). We need someone to organize a letter writing
campaign to the local papers not only supporting our candidate, but
discussing the importance of voting on this budget which includes busing
for the high school students. The brunch at Steamboat Landing was a great
success, got many of us together to meet Doug and Rich, and raise some
funds needed for the upcoming election. Thank you to Sally Zweibach and
