Coalition for Glen Cove

Minutes of the January 14th Meeting

Sally Zweibach has completed an interview with Joe Hinton, Interim Principal of Glen Cove High School, and has submitted the article with a photograph to the Record Pilot and The Gold Coast Gazette as of today.  It should appear in an upcoming edition.

Sally has also researched the details for a Saturday Brunch at Steamboat Landing.  March 9th, 9AM - 12AM is available. Invitations will be sent out in early February.  Marv Issacson has offered to help with this project.

Don Scarl will be sending out a mailing for prospective Coalition Members...not for dues, just for membership.

A fundraising letter will be sent out at a later time, around April 1st. This is being handled by Chuck Kutruff.

Interest will peak closer to the school board election when the candidates are announced.  A School Board Candidate

Committee Meeting will take place soon in which a number of possible candidates will be invited to participate in the discussion.

We will continue to meet monthly on Monday nights at St. Paul's.

The Coalition has joined the social service InterAgency Council, an organization of professional social service agencies from Glen Cove. Don Scarl is scheduled to speak about the Coalition and the Glen Cove schools at the February meeting..

The Coalition will also join the Chamber of Commerce for a cost of $50.00. This will give our members a chance to meet our local business people and discuss relevant issues.

Short discussions took place on the following:

Is it worth it to advertise in the Pennysaver? Other less expensive alternatives such as the PTA newsletters and newspaper calendar listings will be pursued.

Should we change our name?....probably not.
