Coalition For Glen Cove Minutes of Tuesday, April 10, 2001 Meeting Held at: St. Paul's Church Episcopal Church 7PM Natheley McElrath's referendum to reduce the term of office for Board of Education members from 5 to 3 years will be placed on the ballot on May 15. On April 24 Dr. Freeley will be holding a meeting with 5 Real Estate agencies and their brokers at 9AM in the Gribbin School library. Thank you to Leslie Whitely for her efforts to bring this event to fruition. Over 900 letters were mailed out to members of the Glen Cove community inviting them to participate in the Coalition's work. Contributions to the Coalition continue to come in at a steady rate, both from current members and others within the Glen Cove community at large. Ted Holmes took photos of activities at the Middle School to add to the graphics portion of our Website. The majority of the meeting was a discussion of a wide range of issues and concerns revolving around the upcoming election. Many strong, varied and heartfelt opinions were expressed. Quite a few new ideas for our activities for the upcoming weeks came from the discussion and it was agreed that they will be acted upon. Natheley told us of the demonstration and march that she is sponsoring on April 21, 2001 at 4 PM. The march centers around concerns within the Glen Cove community regarding the hiring practices by the School District as they pertain to the hiring of qualified minority teachers and administrators. Should you have any thoughts, concerns of suggestions about any of the above topics, please contact the Coalition via Don Scarl.
