Treasurer’s annual report.

Candidates for the May 2005 school board election. Two school board seats are up for election, those held by Vito Abbondandolo and Roger Silletti. We do not now whether Vito or Roger will run again. Helen Kotzky has agreed to run for school board.

Fern Lindenbaum is making phone calls to update the Coalition list of community leaders. We use this list to invite community leaders to an open house at the Glen Cove schools. Several other community groups in Glen Cove have also found this list useful.

It would be good if the school district could improve its web site.

The district should also work on getting a channel on Cablevision.

Chris Barry, director of the district TV studio has made a useful video about Eileen Abramson receiving the Teacher of the Year award.  This video could be shown at community open houses at the schools.

Victoria Crosby, who is active in many Glen Cove organizations and is an excellent writer, has been hired for a part-time position by the district to help with publicity.

Chris Morris, who is the executive director of the InterAgency Council and an excellent writer and photographer, now has an office in Thayer House.

The members of the Coalition study group on the effects of childhood poverty are Nancy Fender, Helen Kotzky, Francine Santoro, Fred Moore, and Don Scarl. The goals of the group are to design a short in-service presentation for Glen Cove teachers and to write an article for The New York Times or Newsday.
