It has been suggested that we hold two community meetings in October and invite Mary Ann Holzkamp, the Democratic candidate for mayor of Glen Cove, to speak about education at one, and Jeb Morey, the Republican candidate, to speak about education at the other.

Some of the suggestions we have had for speakers at the next few Coalition meetings are:

James Lethbridge, the new middle school principal

Ira Cooper, the new mathematics coordinator

Susan Breen, the new English coordinator

Edward Thomas, the new high school assistant principal

A speaker who can tell us about the new teaming program for ninth graders at the high school.

A speaker who can tell us about the new Title II grant for teacher training.

We are always open for more suggestions.

Frank Zarb is heading a committee named by Governor Pataki to study the way New York State distributes state aid to school districts. The committee will concentrate on New York City but the lawsuit that led to its formation covers all school districts in the State. Zarb will name additional members of the committee in the next few days.
