Announcements

We will meet on Mondays at 7:30 at St. Paul’s for the next six months

Ronnie Lavine would like a leave-of-absence as secretary for a few months.

Don Scarl will speak about the Coalition at the InterAgency Council meeting on February 13th.

Discussion

Should the Coalition join the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce?

Sally Zwiebach received a strange email that looked like it was an offer to join the Coalition. Did anyone else?

Meeting of school board candidates. : ( Janet Bates-Wilkins, Beverly Granger, Doug Brown, Gail Nedbor-Gross, Marilyn Abrams, Christine and Mike Swirnoff, Lorri Prince, Dan Cox)

There will be one school board member elected next May. It has been suggested that we ask candidates to give us their resumes and to speak at our meetings and that we then have a closed ballot to select the candidate we will support.

Should we reserve the front page of the Pennysaver for the week before the election?

In the next few weeks we will send letters inviting people to join the Coalition. We have names of several dozen prospects and are always eager for suggestions.

We would like to invite John Hildebrand from Newsday and Carl McCall and Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic candidates for governor, to speak. Also Steve Sanders, the head of the education committee. How about an education roundtable discussion with Sanders, McCall, Cuomo, Hildebrand, and others?

Now is the time to encourage parents to register to vote. We should cooperate with the PTAs.

It would be good to get parent lists from the Junior Soccer League and the Little League.
